چکیده

Traditionally, Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) image frames are classified individually in an automatic target recognition system. When information from different image frames is combined, it is usually in the context of timeaveraging to remove statistically independent noise fluctuations between images. The sea state induced variability of the ship target projections between frames, however, also provides additional information about the target, that can be used to construct a 3D representation of the target scatterer positions. In this paper, a method for classifying a ship based on 3D scatterer information from a sequence of 2D ISAR images is described. A preliminary classification result for simulated ISAR images of nine types of ship is also provided.

Generalized ISAR Imaging of Sea Target

A generalized ISAR approach to solve the SAR problem for ship target image reconstruction is considered. A new definition of three dimensional (3-D) SAR scenario is suggested. An analytical geometrical approach to define apparent Yaw, Pitch and Roll angle of the ship target at sea is implemented. The target is presented as an assembly of point scatterers. Mathematical expressions to calculate r...

Model based ISAR ship classification

This paper presents an investigation of ISAR image classification based on a comparison of range-Doppler imagery to 3D ship reference models. This comparison is performed in the image domain by estimating the motion of a sequency of ISAR images, generating 3D reference models corresponding to the same motion and matching the models with the given ISAR images. The effect of estimation error in t...

ISAR Image Improvement Using STFT Kernel Width Optimization Based On Minimum Entropy Criterion

Nowadays, Radar systems have many applications and radar imaging is one of the most important of these applications. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) is used to form an image from moving targets. Conventional methods use Fourier transform to retrieve Doppler information. However, because of maneuvering of the target, the Doppler spectrum becomes time-varying and the image is blurred. Joi...

Ship ISAR Image Classification with Probabilistic Neural Network

Ship detection and classification plays a significant role in naval warfare. Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) images are being used extensively for feature extraction in ship detection and classification. The classification problem is solved in two steps. The first step is the extraction of features that characterize the target. The second step is to feed the computed feature values to a...

Real-Time 3D Object Recognition for Automatic Tracker Initialization

We propose a vision based real-time object recognition system, that provides object identification and 3D position data for the automatic initialization of a 3D tracking system. A-priori information is generated using the models of objects which may be present in the image. During recognition this data is accessed, using the position of corner features in the video image for indexing. A voting ...
